Welcome
to Martin, South Dakota!
In 1912 unallotted Indian trust land, in what is now known as Bennett County,
was ceded to the Federal Government by the Oglala Sioux Indians and opened
for settlement October 1, 1912.
Since its incorporation in 1929, a modern, attractive
trade center has been developed to serve this wheat growing and cattle
producing area. Martin is the county seat of Bennett County.
Centrally located, this bustling little city provides goods, services and
recreational facilities for the surrounding area. Martin also serves the
needs of many tourists each year who visit and view the many wonders of
South Dakota’s infinite variety.
